Bio: Sherry Kasper is Professor of Economics at Maryville College and teaches in the Division of Social Sciences. She is instructor for courses on Principles of Economics, Money and Banking, American Economic History, History of Economic Thought, and the Spring Freshman Seminar, “Perspectives on the Community.” She earned a B.A. in American Literature from DePauw University; an M.P.A. in public administration from the University of Colorado; and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Tennessee.
Kasper is dedicated to the liberal arts and to the theory and art of teaching. She currently serves as a special committee member of the History of Economics Society, giving annual workshops to help liberal arts teachers learn how to teach the history of economic thought. Her recently published articles address such timely issues as the ethical dimensions of money and banking and the ways in which issues of gender and race are integrated into the principles of economics.
