Bio: Terry Simpson is Division Chair and Professor for Maryville College’s Division of Education. He instructs courses in the sociology of education, instructional strategies, and ethics. Simpson earned a B.A. and M.S. from the University of Tennessee; a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and an Ed.D., University of Texas A&M—Commerce. He has a particular interest in international comparisons in education, the constitution and education, funding of public education, multicultural education, rural education, and cultural/social influence on education.

A member of the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies; Tennessee Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges in Teacher Education; Kappa Delta Pi; Phi Delta Kappa; and the Tennessee Beekeeping Association, Simpson was chosen Outstanding Maryville College Professor in 1996 & 2002. Twice, Simpson has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar. First, to Estonia in 2000, and to Saudi Arabia in 2002.
