Bio: Dr. Scott Brunger is Associate Professor of Economics at Maryville College, specializing in courses of economics and African studies. He is author of Effects of Japanese Investment in a Small American Community (1997) and an economics murder mystery in Africa A Trade in Death (1993). He and his wife worked for five years in West Africa in the Methodist Church of Benin and Togo. In all he has traveled in 18 African countries as a missionary, economic consultant and tourist. Additionally, Dr. Brunger coordinates Africa Week on campus. In 2005, Dr. Brunger helped coordinate at Maryville College the meeting of South East Symposium on African Studies. Dr. Brunger earned a B.A. in political science from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research.
