Resident Director/Housing Coordinator

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Life, the Resident Director/Housing Coordinator supervises and is responsible for the management of one or more residence halls, housing assignments, and related programs. The RD/HC assists the Director of Campus Life in the implementation of the total Residence Life Program. This is a full-time, twelve-month, live-in position. On-campus apartment including utilities, cable, voice mail and local phone service. Participation in a 10-meal plan in the College dining hall when in service.
Housing Coordinator - Coordinate housing assignments, including room assignments, occupancy, summer housing, and housing management. Coordinate meal plan program, coordinate billing and serve as a liaison between the Residence Life Office and Business Office. Resident Director - Assist with the selection, training, and supervision of student staff; provide staff with orientation to respective hall; provide staff development training programs; assist each student staff member in evaluating the necessary skills to do a thorough and competent job; keep student staff informed and updated on any information concerned with Residence Life and individual halls through weekly staff meetings. Monitor the use and condition of all facilities in the residence hall including common areas and student rooms; supervise periodic room inspections and personally inspect the area's buildings at regular intervals to see that fire safety, maintenance and living standards are maintained; monitor damage assessment records. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records relative to the residency of each student; maintain student emergency information; coordinate room changes and consolidation. Interpret institutional policies and procedures to student staff and residents; act as a liaison and advocate between students, staff and the judicial board; responsible for seeing that appropriate policies pertaining to the residence halls within the area are implemented. Supervise preparation of the residence halls for opening and closing at specified times throughout the year; monitor check-in and checkout procedures. Maintain a high level of student contact and visibility; post office hours; provide counseling/referral for residents with academic, career or personal concerns; serve as a liaison to parents and College constituents as appropriate; serve as a resource/referral of information concerning college life. Promote and assist staff in developmental and social programming in the halls. Participate in weekly coverage of the Residence Life cell phone. Responsible for making decisions in emergency situations. Work with conferences or summer school scheduled in the residence halls during the summer months. Attend regularly
scheduled staff meetings, as well as staff development and training sessions. Assist the Director of Student Life in the implementation of Residence Life programs such as staff development and training, programming and special projects; or housing assignments, records and billing. Adjudicate judicial infractions of a less serious nature. Assist in other duties as may be required in accomplishing the tasks assigned to Residence Life and Student Development.
Requirements: Master's degree required with a specialization in Higher Education, College Student Personnel or closely related field. Residence Life/Housing experience preferred. Must have basic computer skills and ability to learn new software programs.
