Admissions Counselor

Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Admissions Counselor.  This is a full-time position.

Job Status:  Exempt, E-1

Job Summary: Responsible for counseling prospective students and families concerning admission and enrollment at Maryville College. Manages relationships with prospective students and their families from an assigned geographical territory via telephone, email and letters. Identifies, recruits and works with potential Maryville College students by attending college fairs, visiting high schools, and by making personal contacts through phone calls, e-mails and mailings. Represents the College at public events both on and off campus including open houses, scholars’ weekends and Saturday morning campus visits. Develops relationships with key individuals who have significant influence on prospective students, including but not limited to:  parents, guidance counselors, teachers, alumni, and ministers. Evaluates and processes admissions application and gathers additional information as needed by the Admissions Committee. Counsels students in the financial aid process. Ability to work independently as well as part of a group.

Requirements:  Bachelor's degree required with an understanding of the liberal arts and church-related colleges, preferably gained through experience at a similar institution. Evening and weekend hours and overnight travel is required. Admission experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of computers required. A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required.
