Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Groom at Penrose Farm. This part-time position does not qualify for benefits. Must be available to work some weekends.

Job Status: Non-Exempt, G-2
Job Summary: Assists in horse care at the Penrose Farm facility by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: incorporate safety measures in accomplishing the following horse related activities:
Horse Care: Assists as directed with horse care to include stall cleaning, paddock care, and distributing hay. Feeds, waters, and provides appropriate turnout for horses according to the posted feed and turnout charts. Reports changes in horse condition. Ensures that all horses have continual and full access to clean water, food, and turn-out (unless undergoing specific treatment that requires stall rest or withholding of food or water). Identifies, reports, and remediates safety issues involving horses, people, and equipment. Intervenes in situations as needed to ensure that all horses are safe, clean, healthy, and as stress free as possible. Administers medications and provides necessary first-aid and basic medical treatments as prescribed.
Equipment: Uses equipment in a safe manner, Reports need for repair of equipment such as tractors, mowers, spreaders, and small engines. May be subject to work after hours weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements: Knowledgeable and experienced in horse related care and stabling needs. Experience with farm/landscape operations and machinery. A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required.
