The B.S. in Biology, B.A. in Chemistry, and B.A. in Biochemistry provide excellent preparation for dental school. These majors give breadth and depth of study, providing students with all prerequisites to assure dental school success. Recent MC science alumni have been very successful in the dental program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis.
Pre-dent students are advised to work or volunteer at a dentistry clinic (Trinity Dental Clinic is adjacent to the MC campus) during their undergraduate tenure and to conduct a dental-related undergraduate research project.
Maryville College graduates have stellar placement in dental programs due to the rigorous coursework, the extensive undergraduate research conducted by all science students, and the personal recommendation letters of faculty. It is impossible to gain admission to a dental school without positive letters of recommendation, and the relationships that Maryville College students develop with faculty promote strong recommendation letters.
