At Maryville College, the Division of Education offers study in the areas of teacher licensure, physical education and outdoor recreation, and health care and nursing. Each department within the division is geared to meet the unique demands of its students and prepare them for successful career in their respective disciplines. The teacher licensure program prepares elementary and secondary classroom, music, physical education, and teaching English as a second language instructors for successful careers as educators.
The physical education and outdoor recreation programs prepare non-teacher licensure students for careers in corporate, civic, and volunteer sectors as physical education and recreation professionals.
This program of study leads to the Bachelor of Arts in Health Care from Maryville College and the Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Students complete 96 credit hours at Maryville that include the most o f the core curriculum and preparatory courses for upper division and graduate level nursing courses taken at Vanderbilt. Students apply to Vanderbilt during their junior year at Maryville.
