Do you want to have fun experiencing American culture, meeting new people, and practicing your English outside the classroom?

In addition to the many events on and off campus hosted by the College that our ESL students have access to, every month the Center for International Education organizes several fun cultural events. These activities are planned specifically for our international students to complement their English studies, like movie or game nights, potluck parties, and trips to local cultural and recreational attractions. Examples of trips include:

  • Whitewater rafting and tubing
  • Ice skating, skiing and snowboarding
  • Tour of Knoxville’s river-walk area, Old City Historic District and Volunteer Landing
  • Visiting tourist cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge
  • Hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
  • Local malls and outlet shopping
  • Museums, art galleries and zoos
  • Local and professional sports games
  • Weekend trips to Atlanta, Nashville or other nearby cities
  • Dollywood, a large local amusement park
  • World-renowned scientific research center city Oak Ridge
  • Potluck and cooking parties
  • International dance party and line dancing lessons
  • Halloween Party with haunted house, pumpkin carving, and costume contest
  • Host family holiday Thanksgiving potluck dinner
