GROUP STUDY

THAW GROUP STUDY located in Thaw Hall offers free academic mentor-led Group Study sessions for many classes throughout the semester.  Trained academic mentors, proficient in the course and subjects, are available to assist students.   The Group Study sessions enrich a student's educational experience because they provide opportunities to discuss and even debate the topics being taught in the class.  These study sessions also allow students to grow and learn outside of the classroom.  Group study sessions have designated meeting times that are held mornings, afternoons and evenings.   Please refer to the Academic Support Schedule for current Group Study sessions and times. It's an extensive list so you should find what you need!

SI SESSIONS - Supplemental Instruction (SI) are weekly review sessions for students enrolled in historically difficult courses.  The sessions are facilitated by trained academic mentors who in the past have successfully completed the course (earned an "A"), and are again enrolled in the course.  The academic mentors hold weekly review sessions for current students to discuss important concepts, compare notes and develop strategies for preparing for exams. Currently, SI Sessions are held for the following STEM courses:  BIO 113, BIO 115, BIO 218, CHM 121, CHM 122, CHM 223, CHM 224, PHY 102, and PHY 202.

The  MATH TANK  focuses on ALL THINGS MATH from basic college-level math skills to Statistics  and Calculus III.   These Group Study sessions are academic mentor-led sessions.   The Math Tank employs up to 14 different math-minded academic mentors who are available six days a week, morning, noon and night.
