Why I love MC

I attended Maryville College because of the beautiful campus and quality of education.  I love Maryville College because of the people.  I can still remember how at home and welcomed I felt during my visit here as a senior in high school.  As I walked around campus, everyone I saw was friendly and seemed very happy to be here.  I knew that I wanted to be a part of this campus, too!  Then, as a student, I enjoyed the opportunities for involvement on and off campus, the small class size, and the overall sense of community from everyone here.  I got the opportunity to be involved in such a diverse mix of clubs and organizations, which introduced me to a lot of people I may not have otherwise known.  Also, the diversity within the liberal arts curriculum exposed me to many topics that I would not have gotten to experience at other schools.  As an Art major, I received the opportunity to learn about environmental toxins, the Indian subcontinent, world religions, and statistics!  I felt like I received a very well-rounded, interesting, and challenging education here.  Now, as an employee of the College, I still enjoy the close community and the lovely campus setting.  Orange and garnet float forever!

Bio

I grew up in Clinton, Tennessee, and came from Clinton High School to Maryville College. As a 2003 graduate, I majored in the Art with a minor in Organizational Business Management. During my time as a student, I was involved in the dance team, the Voices of Praise gospel choir, the Concert Choir and Community Chorus, Student Programming Board, Peer Mentoring, and radio station. I loved my time on campus so much that I took on the position of Admissions Intern, then Admissions Counselor during the year after my graduation. After leaving Maryville, I joined an organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and travelled as a missionary to the South Pacific islands, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. I had a wonderful time and learned a lot, but came back to Maryville to get married and settle down. I spent two years working at East Tennessee Foundation in Knoxville before returning to the MC Admissions Office at the beginning of 2010. I am excited to be back home!
