Why I love MC
Where do I begin? Maryville College helped me become! There
are several dimensions to the place MC has in my life and my heart.
After my transition from Philadelphia, Pa. to MC, the opportunities at the
College provided me the basis to become a competent teacher, provided a base of live long friends with whom I continue to have regular contact, and, above all, provided the opportunity to meet and begin a the journey with the wonderful lady who became my wife. Maryville College weaves a warm fabric of connectedness. As the College has adapted to the 21st century, this rich spirit has transcended time and has become the hallmark of all that is Maryville College. The students, faculty, and staff are a special group of people who are dedicated to make Maryville College a caring community
of life long learners who make a difference in all dimensions of their lives.
This is why I love Maryville College and am proud to help nurture its growth.
Bio
With great fortune, I was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 20th, 1947 to
loving parents Dorothy and Jim. All of my education was in the Philadelphia
public schools culminating in graduation from Central High School
in January, 1965. I matriculated at Maryville College in the fall of 1965.
I majored in History and had a wonderful student teaching experience
At South-Doyle High School. I graduated in June, 1969 having been
named Man of the Year. Sue and I were married in the Little Chapel
on campus after graduation and moved to Milford, Ohio near her home
in Cincinnati. I began my teaching career in Milford which would span
31 years retiring in 2000. I enjoyed teaching Social Studies during those
years and was blessed with wonderful students.
Sue and I have been blessed with two children, Jamey and Erin. Jamey and
his wife, Lori, provided us a grandson, Levi who has brought us great joy.
During my time outside of teaching, I was ordained as an elder in the
Presbyterian Church and have been active most recently at Grace
Community Presbyterian Church in Maineville, Ohio.
During my leisure hours, I have enjoyed playing golf, rowing my
boat on the lake next to our home, riding bikes, and sailing on our
lake when time permits.
Sue and I have most enjoyed our golden retriever, Sam. Sam has
Maryville connections as he was born there. We have been so fortunate
to include him in our family.
