Alumni and Friends, What a Homecoming weekend we had! With the sounds of bagpipes still echoing around campus, I would like to thank all of our alumni, students, parents, and friends for celebrating this special weekend with us. Homecoming is a special time for the College – it is when lifelong friends reunite and new friendships are made, alumni feel like students again as they reconnect with favorite professors, and the buildings themselves tell a story to the people who know this place so well.
The splendor of fall in the Smoky Mountains is the backdrop for our Maryville College celebration. And this year, on the weekend of October 19-20, the weather did not disappoint. The sun was shining, and the leaves were gorgeous shades of orange and red to welcome everyone “Home to Howee.”
There is much to see and enjoy with the schedule of activities! From the Alumni Choir Reunion to the Wall of Fame Brunch & Induction, Friday Night Reunions to the Little Scotties Children’s Area, the Harvest Craft Festival and the Alumni Reception, Homecoming is a chance for the College to throw a party for our wonderful alumni and friends! The energy and enthusiasm surrounding Honaker Field as the football team takes the field makes us all proud to yell just a little bit louder, “Go Scots!”
I hope you all have marked your calendars for next year’s Homecoming, Sept. 27-28, 2013. Those of you whose graduation year ends in a ‘3’ or ‘8’ will celebrate a reunion so be on the lookout for more information. We are looking forward to another great Maryville College weekend!
Orange, Garnet, Float Forever!
Sincerely yours,
Andrea May ‘07

During Homecoming 2012, we asked Maryville College alumni: "What's your favorite part of Homecoming?"

Samuel Houck, a 1937 alumnus of Maryville College, returned to campus for Homecoming 2012 to celebrate his 75th reunion.
