Kin Takahashi Week

March 12, 2008

Dear Fellow KT Participant,

The twelfth annual Kin Takahashi Week is scheduled for June 9-13, 2008. While major construction will be seen on the new Civic Arts Center, a new dormitory, exterior work on Anderson Hall, and renovation of International House and Crawford House, there is still need of the kind of improvements that KTer’s bring to the campus. There is carpentry, horticulture/landscaping, painting, and archive work to do and these activities will assist in numerous improvement projects still being done as part of the Campus Improvement Plan.

For those who will be staying on campus, we have been assigned to the new Lloyd Hall and, as in past years, there will be ample impromptu gatherings after dinner in the dorm. There are plans for another mid-week barbeque at the McArthur Pavilion followed by complimentary tickets to the Steve Kaufmann Flatpicking Camp concert. The Kaufman Kamp always adds down-home flavor against the backdrop of the Chilhowee Mountains!

Over the past 11 years, contributions to KT Week have made a measurable difference in the appearance of the campus and the buildings. Last year, 130 participants completed 40 projects. Whether it is for a day, a few days, or the entire week, I invite you to come and participate. When the work is done, no matter what the project, it is certainly rewarding to stand back and enjoy the feeling of improving the College for students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community.

If you would like to be part of this remarkable week of volunteerism, please complete the K.T. registration form by May 31. If you would like additional information please contact Diana Canacaris at (865) 981-8198 or diana.canacaris@maryvillecollege.edu.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Maryville College.

With Appreciation,

Dan Greaser
