Without question, the time I spent in the theatre.
I blog about picture books for fun, but that hobby has lead to many of the freelance writing jobs in my life. Follow your bliss, and the work will follow, as they say.
A liberal arts education is invaluable!
I’d say it’s the publication of the book (coming this August), but I also juried in Bologna, Italy, for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair – back in 2012. It was fascinating to see picture books from all over the world.
I write about picture books for various publications, and I’m gearing up for publication of my first book, written with two other authors, Wild Things: Acts of Mischief in Children’s Literature.
I received my Master’s degree in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee. I then worked in multiple school library positions, the most recent being the librarian at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville. Now, I work from home (near Nashville, Tennessee) as a freelance writer in the realm of children’s literature, and I also teach a graduate course for the University of Tennessee’s School of Information Sciences, a course about children’s literature (picture books, in particular).
