The Calvin Cup Challenge, a suggestion made by young alumni, is a fun way to get everyone to recognize that making a gift each year is just as important as the amount of the gift.
Why is alumni giving percentage so important?
First, the percentage of alumni who make a gift to the College is an important measure used by national publications to help determine rankings. Second, it helps secure additional support for the College. Foundations are keenly aware of alumni giving percentages and make funding decisions based on an institution’s demonstrated broad-based support.
At the end of the fiscal year (May 31st), we will close the books and calculate the percentage of givers from each young alum class.
The winning class - the one with the highest percentage of donors, regardless of gift amount - will be presented with The Calvin Cup in a ceremony at the Young Alumni Tailgate during MC Homecoming each year.
Calvin was one of Maryville College’s great alumni. Our web site can tell you much more about Calvin Duncan and the Calvin Duncan society. The Calvin Cup will be on display throughout the year in Willard House.
