Maryville College Director of Athletics Kandis Schram announced today that she has selected Kim Woodard as the Scots new head softball coach.

Woodard was a graduate assistant for LaGrange College during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. During this time, LaGrange won two Great South Athletic Conference Championships and received two NCAA tournament bids. A 2007 graduate of LaGrange, Woodard was the Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2007. She was a four-time All-GSAC selection. Woodard was named to three straight NCAA All-Atlantic Region teams. She also earned USCAA All-American honors following her freshman and sophomore seasons. Woodard finished her career with a .393 batting average. She ranks in the top-10 in nine different school career record lists. Woodard has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has completed a Masters in Art of Teaching degree. She is a native of Gainesville, Ga.

“I was impressed with Kim’s strong background in NCAA Division III athletics,” stated Coach Schram. “Kim’s tutelage under LaGrange’s Jennifer Claybrook was a big factor in bringing a winning attitude to the program. I believe Kim will be a strong leader and our players will be eager to learn under her direction.”

Woodard replaces Danny Fish, who finished his seven year stint with a 159-115 overall record while going 77-28 within the Great South Athletic Conference. Fish accepted a position at Union College early this summer.

While at Maryville, Woodard will also be responsible for the development of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program.
