The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the post season awards for the 2009 women’s soccer season. The Maryville College women’s soccer program was once again well represented in several categories.
Junior Jessica Petersen was named the Great South Conference “Player of the Year” for the second straight year. Petersen led the conference in points with 41 and goals with 17 at the conclusion of the regular season.
Maryville had six players named to the 2009 All-Conference team. This list of players includes sophomore Jordan Chase, freshman Kelsie Kestner, senior Lauren Metts, junior Jessica Petersen, sophomore Desiree Simmons, and sophomore Alex Wingo.
The Scots were also well represented on the GSAC All-Freshman team as three players were selected. This group includes midfielder Anna Ericksen, defender Kelsie Kestner, and defender Hannah Rector.
Also, Head Coach Pepe Fernandez had five of his players named to the 2009 All-Academic team. Student-Athletes named to the team include Jordan Chase, Morgan Goodman, Jessica Petersen, Mandy Seiler, and Jessica Thompson.
