SCAD wins 2002 MIT

Savannah College of Art and Design took National Champion Otterbein College to overtime to earn the 2002 Maryville Invitational Tournament Title 76-72.

Labeeb Abdullah hit a three pointer at the top of the key with :02 remaining to send SCAD to overtime.

In the five minute game, two costly turnovers and a Paul Otim dunk sealed the Bee victory.

Otterbein (2-2) was led by All-Tournament selections Tony Borghese and Mo Ross. Each contributed 19 and 15 respectively. Aaron Minister added 11 rebounds and 17 points for the Cardinals.

SCAD (3-0) was paced by Tournament MVP Abdullah. He tossed in 21 points from the perimeter. All-Tournament selection Keith Davis added 19 points for the Bees. Paul Otim contributed 12 points and 15 rebounds on the afternoon.

In the consolation game, Maryville(3-2) defeated Roanoke (2-2) 95-67.
All-Tournament selection Josh Tummel had 13 points and 6 boards. The Scots were paced by Ben Robison's 21 point afternoon. He hit 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Sidney Ellis tossed in 16 points while Brent Langham added 13.

Roanoke was led by All-Tournament selection Robby Pridgen. The guard hit for 16 points. Jared Butler added 11 for the Maroons.
