Maryville College Basketball has a rich tradition of success. The MC Cagers fielded their first intercollegiate team in 1903. From the early barnstorming years until today, the Scots have registered over 1,000 victories in their 106-year history.

The Randy Lambert era began in 1980 and Maryville Basketball elevated its game to national prominence. Throughout the 90's, the Fighting Scots recorded several 20+ win seasons, including six NCAA tournament appearances.

SINCE 2000....
Over the last nine years, the Maryville men of the hardwood have maintained a level of excellence. Here are a few of their accomplishments in the decade of 2000:
9 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances
2 Sweet Sixteen appearances in the national tournament
9 consecutive Great South Athletic Conference regular season titles
7 GSAC Tournament championships
.794 winning percentage
224 victories and 58 losses

This past season (2008-2009) the Scots finished the year 20-7, including a 6-0 record in the Great South Athletic Conference. They lost to Trinity (TX) in San Antonio, Texas in the first round of the national tournament.

The MC Basketball program plays all of its home games in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium. The playing surface is one of three basketball floors housed in the Cooper Athletic Center. The Cooper Crazies enjoy watching the up-tempo offense and the aggressive defense that has become a trademark of their team. On the road, all of the Scots games can be heard via live broadcast on WBCR 1470 AM radio or on this internet site.
