Welcome to Maryville College Scots Volleyball. We anticipate an outstanding 2010 season after a standout 2009 campaign.
Maryville College Head Volleyball Coach Kandis Schram is excited about where the program is today and is even more excited about the potential for an outstanding future.
The Scots have been Champions of the Great South Athletic Conference eight of the past ten seasons(2000,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2008 and 2009).They have received nine NCAA National tournament bids in their program history (1981,1982,1993,2001,2002,2003,2004,2006, and 2009).
The volleyball program has registered a record of 792-416 (.656) since 1979. Head Coach Kandis Schram has amassed a record of 583-304 (.657) during her 24 year tenure.
The Scots posted a 30-6 mark in 2009 while repeating as Great South regular season champions with an amazing 7-0 regular season record in conference action. They swept through the conference tournament to claim the title and finished the season with a 17 match win streak.
MC claimed their first win in the NCAA tournament and first win against a nationally ranked opponent with a victory over previously unbeaten University of Texas-Dallas in the first round of the 2009 NCAA tournament.
“It is always our goal to win the GSAC title and advance to the NCAA tournament,” stated Coach Schram. When a goal is reached on a consistent basis, good teams want more. “We want to go further within the NCAA tournament,” replied Schram, who has guided the Scots for the past 24 seasons.
Though the goals may be lofty, Coach Schram feels she has the right mix of players for continued success.
