The Maryville College Men's Soccer Reserve Team kicked off their 2010 season with an impressive 5-1 victory over Johnson Bible College on Wednesday night. The scoring started only eight minutes into the contest when Joe Pinkston found Kris Varga, both freshmen, for the first goal of the campaign.

The Scots allowed Johnson Bible College to level the match at one a piece before taking control of the contest. In the 33rd minute Junior Taylor Richardson found Sophomore Will Livingston for the go ahead goal. The Reserve Scots entered halftime up 2-1.

A few changes were made at half time and the Scots were off and running in the second half scoring three unanswered times with goals from Taylor Richardson, Joe Pinkston and Walker Harrison.  Eric Hammond led the team with two assists while Steven Wright also bagged an assist.  In goal for the Scots was Chris Penn who had a solid performance allowing only one goal in 90 minutes of play.

Reserve Team Head Coach Kevin Keck was pleased with the outcome having this to say about the match, "An early contest like this is important in that we are able to take a look at a lot of players while allowing the young guys to get crucial match experience. We were fortunate to get 20 different players on the field tonight and try a few different formations. I would like to wish Johnson Bible College the best of luck as they start their regular season."
