Dr. Jennifer Brigati
Assistant Professor of Biology
Dr. Brigati joined the faculty of Maryville College in 2006. She completed her Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. Valery Petrenko at Auburn University, focusing her research efforts on the identification and characterization of phage-derived detection probes for Bacillus anthracis spores. She then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in the Center for Environmental Biotechnology under Dr. Gary Sayler and Dr. Steven Ripp, where she focused her efforts on genetic modification of a bacteriophage for use in detection of E. coli O157:H7. Currently, she is a co-PI on the NSF RUI project Interdependence of nutrient and pheromone sensing pathways in yeast. This project is largely carried out by undergrads from MC, UTK, Carson-Newman College and Tennessee Weslyan College.
