Center for Global Engagement

Located in the International House, the CGE staff is here to help international and exchange students with a variety of questions or problems ranging from immigration and work to student advising and host families. You should come to the CGE for the following services:

* Academic, social, cultural, and immigration/visa/tax advising

* A variety of social, cultural, and educational programs throughout the year

* Language testing and placement

* On-campus/Off-campus work

Residence Life

Residence Life is in charge of room assignments, dorm maintenance, and activities for students who live on campus. Resident Assistants are assigned to each dormitory, and there is always someone on duty in your hall if you have a question about a roommate, your room, getting involved on campus, or simply adjusting to life at Maryville College.

Library

The library is not only a quiet place to study but also features many useful resources. There are three levels of books and materials for students to browse or borrow that range from popular fiction and DVDs to research materials. Sixty computers and thirty laptops provide access to the campus network, printers, email, Internet, and software for class work.

Internet/E-mail Service & Support

Information Technology will assist you if you have trouble accessing the Internet or the Maryville College campus network, setting up your e-mail, and other computer support.

Academic Success Center

The Support Center teaches students learning strategies, note-taking skills, test preparation and test taking, and also offer tutoring and supplemental instruction review session.

Disability Resources and Accessibility

The Office for Disability Resources and Accessibility seeks to meet the needs of students with documented disabilities by providing appropriate and reasonable accommodations through an interactive process. 

Writing Consultations

Writing Center consultants can provide individual help and offer suggestions for improvements with all stages of the writing or speech preparation process.

Health Services

TimelyCare - Telemedicine

TimelyCare gives enrolled students – residential and commuters – access to 24/7 medical and mental telehealth care, with no cost at the time of visit. Students are able to talk to licensed providers from their smartphone or any web-enabled device. Licensed providers are available to diagnose non-emergent medical conditions, prescribe medications and offer mental health support and wellness coaching via phone or secure video visits. There is no additional charge to students for basic medical services provided through the clinic. Students may incur additional cost for prescription drugs or diagnostic tests such as laboratory, x-rays, cultures, etc. Personal Counseling is also available.

Student Health Information

International Health Insurance Policy

If you are a Maryville College student, you will be required to carry medical health insurance for the full duration of your program, including summers. Maryville College provides students and dependents with mandatory health insurance. Please pay attention to the following rules to determine what applies to you:

  1. J-1 students or dependents sponsored by Maryville College may not opt out of our insurance plan.
  2. ISEP, and World Learning students, since you have a different J-visa sponsor, you will need to have their insurance. StudyUSA you need to have insurance approved through British Council.
  3. F-1 (or other visa-type) students may may not opt out of our insurance plan.

Cost & Coverage Dates (2021)

Fall: August 15. 2021 – January 9, 2021 $450 (new student rate)

Spring: January 10, 2021 – August 31, 2021 $600

*note: students who are 25 – 49 are subject to higher insurance prices.

We will enroll all J-1 (as per conditions above) and all F-1 students in this policy AUTOMATICALLY. You will pay for it upon arrival, and it will be valid from the dates above.

All students should, however, consider one’s own health condition, talk with one’s physician, and ensure that one has adequate coverage to meet one’s personal needs that may not be met by the Maryville College Health Insurance.

Safety & Security

Maryville College Security is made up of five Tennessee State Licensed Security Officers who patrol campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and are always available to assist you by calling 865-981-8112.

Career Center

The CC offers information and one-on-one advising on selecting a major, resumé and cover letter writing, interviewing, networking, conducting a job and internship searches, applying to graduate school and other issues of professional and vocational development

Center for Campus Ministry

The CCM is the home for the Spiritual Life and Volunteer Service programs at the college. Open Christian worship services are held every Tuesday. For more information on volunteering visit the CCM web page.
