Chloe Kennedy joins staff in MC's Office of Communications

Chloe Kennedy was recently named news and new media writer in Maryville College's Office of Communications.

She joined the staff on June 14.

Kennedy holds a master's degree in communication and information and a bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in journalism and electronic media, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

As news and new media writer, Kennedy is responsible for writing, editing and distributing news releases about College events; pitching news story ideas and distributing media advisories to local media; using social media and new technologies to distribute news to both traditional and emerging media; assisting with website content provision; and assisting with media events.

Kennedy comes to the College with experience in newspaper reporting, feature writing and new media. Her most recent position was at the Knoxville News Sentinel, where she was the higher education reporter, and previously, online producer. As higher education reporter, she covered higher education in East Tennessee, including private colleges, the University of Tennessee system and the Tennessee Board of Regents system. As an online producer, she packaged breaking news coverage; updated content on knoxnews.com; and shot and edited video.

"Not only does she bring to the job valuable knowledge and experience in emerging media, she has a solid background in covering higher education and understands how to find and promote the news from college campuses."
