Is your child the next Steven Spielberg?

This summer, Maryville College is offering a three-day film camp at the Clayton Center for the Arts. The Maryville College Film Camp for Kids, which will be held July 5-7 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., will teach campers video camera techniques and how to create their own films.

The camp is open to rising 4th through 8th graders. Tuition is $90 and includes lunch. After Care is available for an additional charge.

Throughout the week, campers will learn from local writers, actors and award-winning filmmakers who will walk them through every step of filmmaking – from writing the story to building and designing a set, lighting, costumes and props. By the last day, campers will know how to write and produce their own creations.

After camp concludes, campers will be encouraged to write and produce a film as part of a team or on their own and present their film at the first-ever Maryville College Kids Film Festival and Awards Ceremony on Aug. 4. Awards to be presented include Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress.

Campers may bring their own video equipment to camp, but it is not required.

The registration deadline is June 23. For more information, please visit http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/events/filmcamp or contact Nathaniel Tipton at 865.981.8018 or nathaniel.tipton@maryvillecollege.edu.
