Starting this month and continuing through September, Maryville College alumni will be contacted by partner vendor Harris Connect to collect and update contact information to assist in the creation of the 2014 Maryville College Alumni Directory.
This printed directory has been approved by the MC Alumni Office and will provide information on nearly 9,000 living alumni. The information collected is used to update the College’s records to ensure that the College is able to contact graduates regarding alumni events and news from campus, as well as provide efficient assistance with classmate searches.
“College provides the most prominent time in life to establish lasting relationships that we carry with us for life. In the Alumni Office, our role is to assist our alumni in continuing and renewing the bonds that brought them to Maryville College and shaped their personal and professional lives,” said Matt Jagnow, director of alumni affairs and outreach. “Creating an alumni directory allows our alumni to share in each other’s successes and spark the affinity that they all share for their Alma Mater.”
At Maryville College, an alumni directory has been published, historically, every five years. Harris Connect produced and sold the 2007 directory, while its forerunner, the Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company, produced several preceding editions.
“Harris Connect has an excellent reputation for offering innovative, thoughtfully designed services and solutions for non-profits,” Jagnow explained. “Knowing that Harris has been a leader in this business for more than 40 years and because Maryville College has worked with this company before, we are confident that alumni will view this publication as an invaluable resource – whether they are searching for classmates or looking to network with professionals in their fields.”
While updating their contact and business information with a Harris Connect representative, alumni will have the opportunity to place an order for the 2014 Maryville College Alumni Directory. It should be ready for distribution during the early months of 2014.
The cost is $100. The College receives no portion of the directory fee, but the sale of directories does provide a way for the Alumni Office to obtain current information on alumni at no cost.
MC Alumni can expect to receive another email and postcard within two weeks. This will be followed by phone calls beginning on Sept. 16 and lasting from five to eight weeks. Calls will come from Harris Connect to those who either have not provided their updated information or opted out. The anticipated release date for the Alumni Directory is mid-January 2014.
