Jazz on the program of Smithee recital

Trumpeter and Maryville College Associate Professor of Music Dr. Larry Smithee will present a jazz recital at 8 p.m., Sept. 19, in the Fine Arts Center Music Hall.

Featured with Smithee will be fellow Maryville College music faculty member Dr. William Swann, plus bassist Rusty Holloway, saxophonist Bob Knapp and drummer Daryl Johnson.

Among the selections for the concert will be Duke Jordan’s “Jordu,” Clifford Brown’s “Jazz Spring,” Horace Silver’s “Peace” and a Larry Smithee original entitled “Chicken Hawk.”

Lovers of American jazz are invited to attend. Admission is open to the public and free of charge.
