Maryville College invites prospective students to take one more step toward making their college decision by attending a “Just for Juniors” event, scheduled for 3:30-6 p.m., Fri., March 30th.
Current high school juniors are invited to campus to participate in events that will inform them about Maryville College's academic programs, facilities, faculty, staff and current students.
After enjoying ice cream, prospective students will divide into groups for a tour of the campus, led by current MC students. They will visit residence halls, campus hangouts and dining facilities, and also learn about classroom buildings, library resources and historic landmarks in an interactive and engaging way.
The “Just for Juniors” events include meeting with faculty from several divisions and enjoying dinner in the Margaret Ware Dining Room of Pearsons Hall.
Parents and family members of prospective students are invited to attend, as well. Informational sessions and a campus tour tailored to them will be available.
Guests are also invited to attend the Maryville College Concert Choir’s performance of “Pipes, Glens, & Thistles: A Celebration of Gratitude,” beginning at 8 p.m. at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Tickets to the performance will be provided.
Arielle Kilday, assistant director of admissions, said that high school juniors should begin their college search as early as possible.
“We encourage students to start their college search during their junior year of high school, if not earlier. That way, they can narrow down their selections and only apply to those schools that really interest them early in their senior year,” Kilday said. “Visiting is the best way to answer that question ‘Is this college the best fit for me?’”
