Talk of an agreement between Maryville College and the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) guaranteeing the use of Maryville College’s Boydson Baird Gymnasium for the new NWBL’s Knoxville team has been circulating for several weeks. The two parties have ended negotiations and are expected to sign a contract at a press conference in Knoxville, December 9th, at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
The local NWBL team, named the Tennessee Fury, is expected to open its season on Feb. 4 and play nine games through April 9 at the College.
