Maryville College Graduation 2013

 

Services and Ceremonies

Baccalaureate services are planned for 2 p.m., May 19, in the Clayton Center for the Arts.  

Graduation exercises for the Class of 2013 will be held at 6 p.m., May 19, on the lawn between Anderson Hall and Sutton Science Center.  In case of inclement weather, Commencement will be moved to Boydson Baird Gymnasium in the Cooper Athletic Center.  The decision to move inside will be announced at Baccalaureate.  If the ceremony is moved into the gymnasium, seating in the main gym will be by ticket only.  Seniors will be allotted 4 tickets each. All other guests may view the ceremony on big screen simulcast in the adjoining gymnasiums.  Seniors will be able to pick up tickets during graduation rehearsal.

Streaming video of commencement exercises will be broadcast live through HP Video. A direct link to the ceremony will be available at http://livestreamvideo.tv/maryville-college-graduation-2013/. After Commencement, the video will be archived online. Those who wish to purchase a DVD can contact HP Video at 865.523.1073.

Rehearsal

The Class of 2013 will hold graduation rehearsal in the Alumni Gym at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17.  Seniors who are marching are encouraged to bring a pen or pencil.  Inclement weather tickets will be distributed during graduation rehearsal.  A photo ID will be required to pick up tickets and they must be signed for.

 

Celebrations

Graduating seniors, the College’s faculty and staff members, and members of the College’s Alumni Board are invited to the annual Senior Barbecue, scheduled for 12 p.m., May 17, in the McArthur Pavilion. Sponsored by the College’s Alumni Association, the barbecue means great food, refreshing beverages and memorable times with friends. The Senior class gift will also be presented to Dr. Bogart at this time. Invitations will be sent, and reservations will be taken. 

The 16th annual Graduation Celebration for graduating seniors and their parents will be held at 8 PM, May 18 in Isaac’s, located in Bartlett Hall.  Sponsored by Student Development, the event is held to honor the Class of 2013 and their families.  Dress is dressy-casual.  Invitations will be sent , and reservations can be made by contacting Sheree O’Connor at 865.981.8213 or by e-mail to  sheree.oconnor@maryvillecollege.edu.

 

Other Area Events

The Smoky Mountain Highland Games (www.smokymountaingames.org) will also be taking place on the Maryville campus May 17 – 19. This event brings people from all over the country to Maryville for a weekend of competition, fun, and games.  Please find time while you are here for graduation to visit the games.

Due to the high volume of people that the Games attract, it will be important for you to make your travel arrangements and hotel accommodations early.
