The MC Parents Association

In 1994, several parents of Maryville College students came together to help minimize the frustrations and concerns shared by all “freshman parents.” The result of their coming together was the formation of the Parents Association.

The purpose of the Association, as written in the Parents Association’s Constitution and Bylaws, is “to encourage active interest of parents of Maryville students in the activities and programs of Maryville College, in order that they may share in the continued development of their sons and daughters.”

There are no dues to join the Parents Association. If you are a parent or legal guardian of an enrolled MC student, you are automatically enrolled as a member of the Association. You will also receive FOCUS, the magazine for alumni, parents and friends (published twice a year); Alumni News & Notes (published twice a year); brochures and invitations for special events and special weekends; and other periodic mailings.

The Parents Association meets once a year. At these meetings, family members are invited to hear remarks by the President of the College and reports by members of the Parents Council.

The Parents Council

Consisting of 16 family units (4 families from each of the classes), the Parents Council is the governing body of the Parents Association. Listening to concerns of other parents and sharing these concerns with College administrators is a primary responsibility of Parents Council members. Other responsibilities include helping plan campus events for families, making recommendations for parent publications, leading efforts for the annual parent fund-drive and advising the College on issues and activities relevant to student life.

Have Concerns or Questions?

College administrators are available to answer any question and work to remedy any problem you, as a parent, may have. However, if you would prefer to speak to a parent first, Parents Council members are just a receiver away.
