Financial Aid
Contact: Director of Financial Aid, 865.981.8100
The Financial Aid Office is located in Fayerweather Hall and provides students with services associated with grants, scholarships, loans and work study. Students should contact the Financial Aid Office with questions concerning their financial aid package.
Prior to your child’s enrollment each year, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A renewal FAFSA will be available after the first of the year at fafsa.ed.gov. Priority is given to students who submit their application prior to March 1, as federal, state, and/or institutional funds may be exhausted after that time. While the College strongly recommends families complete the FAFSA electronically, paper application forms will be available in the Office of Financial Aid no later than December 1.
FAFSA Number
Please include Maryville College’s Federal School Code (003505) on your Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).
Scholarship Renewal
For most students who have received Maryville College scholarships, students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.50 and/or satisfactory completion of program requirements. Recipients of the Presidential, Dean’s or Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship or the Isaac Anderson or Mountain Challenge Fellowship have different renewal requirements. For information on these particular renewal requirements, you can contact the scholarship or program coordinator. (Presidential– Dr. Jerilyn Swann; Isaac Anderson Fellowship – Dr. Bill Meyer; Mountain Challenge Fellowship – Mr. Bruce Guillaume; Dean’s and PTK – Mr. Richard Brand)
TELS Scholarship Renewal (TN Residents Only)
Tennessee Residents who received the Hope or Access Grant from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) in their first year are eligible to renew these scholarships provided they maintain minimum eligibility requirements. Students must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 after attempting 24 credit hours; thereafter, students must maintain a 3.0. Following the renewal eligibility at 24 hours, students are required to be certified as eligible by the Financial Aid Office after completion of: 48 attempted hours, 96 attempted hours, and 120 attempted hours. Attempted hours is defined as any college coursework completed after high school graduation, remedial coursework, or courses from which a student has withdrawn after the drop/add deadline. Scholarship renewal is available up to 136 attempted hours provided the student maintains the minimum GPA. For more detailed information on the Hope or Access Grant renewal requirements, check out state.tn.us/tsac/
Federal and Institutional Work Study
Work Study is a program in which students are eligible to work on campus as a way to earn spending money. Students who have been awarded Federal Work Study in their financial aid package will receive information on how to obtain a Federal Work Study position. Federal Work Study students will be given priority for positions, and a job fair is held during the first week of school at which students can review available positions.
Students not eligible for Federal Work Study will be allowed to search for a Work Study position under the Institutional Work Study Program on a limited basis.
While the College attempts to place all students, work study positions are not guaranteed. All students interested in campus employment will be required to attend one of four mandatory meetings during the first week of school before they will be allowed to search for available positions. A list of available positions is managed and maintained by the Financial Aid Office and will be shared with students at these meetings.
