Dear New Student,
As part of new student orientation and our comprehensive alcohol education program, Maryville College requires all first-year students to complete AlcoholEdu for College – an online, non-opinionated alcohol education program. Used on over 500 campuses nationwide, the course uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you better cope with the drinking behavior of your peers.
The course has two sections (Part I and Part II), both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement:
Completion of this online course is part of the requirements for the Orientation 110 Course “Perspective on the College”. Not completing this course by the due dates will affect your passing Orientation 110, which is required for graduation.
Also you must use your Maryville College email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) for this course.
Please note that the course includes three surveys that measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential; the College will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers.
To take AlcoholEdu for College, you will need a computer with Internet access and audio capabilities. This might be your home computer, public library, or cyber café.
You must complete Part I of the course before you arrive on campus.
Should you experience any difficulties or require support, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply click on the “Technical Help” button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for College screen. You do not need to be logged into the course to access the Technical Support Center.
Thank you, and enjoy the course!
