The CCM provides the home base for the Spiritual Life and Volunteer Service programs at the college. Stop by the CCM and you’ll be likely to find a listening ear, a challenging program, or a group of students planning a service trip. Bonner, Bradford, and Church and College Scholar programs are all based in the CCM. Numerous campus groups meet in our building.
Everyone is invited to come to worship every Tuesday from 1:15 until 1:50.
The CCM’s chapel theme for fall 2010 is going to be “Sacred Spaces.” We are asking each speaker to reflect on places or features of the natural world that speak to us about what is holy. This might come from scripture, which is full of images of the natural world – the river of life, the desert, mountains, fountains, Spirit/breath, wind, the promise of land. This might come from personal experience, of encounter with the holy in particular places – your grandmother’s living room or a church, or the Smoky Mountains. Or it might come from collective religious experience – pilgrimages, luminal places that are recognized by different faiths. We hope in this series to raise the community’s awareness that we stand on Holy Ground, and move toward and appreciation of and care for the natural world, as well as a sense that God moves among us, transforming ordinary places into holy ones, or maybe that “ordinary” places are, in fact, holy ones.
Chapel will take place at 1:15p.m. in the Center for Campus Ministry unless otherwise noted. Chapel will conclude in time for students and professors to attend 2:00 classes.
