The Information Technology Department maintains all of the campus servers and networking equipment that makes it possible for users to connect to the campus network. Information Technology is prohibited from performing maintenance or troubleshooting problems on student-owned computers outside of internet connectivity. Guidelines for using the Maryville College network are discussed in the Maryville College Network and Computer Use Policy, available in the Student Handbook and on this Information Technology Department support page.
Residential students have data ports available in their residence halls in order to connect personally owned computers to the Maryville College network. Additionally, much of the campus is also covered with 802.11B/G wireless connectivity on the "Scots" network. Due to the nature of building construction, airborne interference, etc. wireless service is not guaranteed.
It is each student’s personal responsibility to ensure that their PC is kept up-to-date and virus free.
Additionally, students should make themselves aware of their responsibilities as they pertain to copyright law. Information on federal copyright law and the regulations which Maryville College must follow can be found here: Copyright Information For Students
