Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Volleyball Coach/Building Supervisor/Game Management. This is a full-time position.

Job Status:  Exempt, E-1

Job Summary:   Assist the Head Coach in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties of the women's volleyball program. Ensures the security and upkeep of the Cooper Athletic Facilities. Secondary responsibilities include game management.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:  Assist in the recruiting of all potential student athletes. Comply fully with N.C.A.A. Conference and Athletic Department policies. Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students, campus colleagues, and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner. Assist in the issuance, maintenance and retrieval of all equipment involved with the program. Assist in the supervision, scheduling and maintenance of facilities. Work with the academic counselor in the monitoring of the academic progress of each student-athlete. Attend as required, all practices, meetings and contests. Assist in filing all reports relative to their sport, as assigned by the Head Coach. Assist in the selection, training and supervision of student assistants and managers. Assist in the organization and supervision of all off-campus trips including being available for overnight travel. Maintain office hours as assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. Auxiliary duties may be assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics.

Building Supervision                                      

Summary: Manages and coordinates building supervisors that maintains oversight of the Cooper Athletic Center during regular operating hours and during special scheduled events. Management will ensure that the building is being maintained, supervised, and managed to a level that promotes health & safety. Weekends and Holidays may be required.  Monitors the building for security purposes and maintains patrol throughout the shift until close. Inspect the entire building for maintenance and housekeeping needs. Perform minor maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities when necessary. Report all major needs to the appropriate department heads. Responsible for the supervision of student work-study personnel assigned to building. Assists with game management and special programs as needed. Secures the building internally and externally at the designated closing time. Make sure that only authorized personnel are in the building upon departure. Regular attendance is required. Perform other duties as assigned.

Game Management

Summary:  Supervises the game management of home athletic contests.  Works closely with the head coach, the security staff, and the director of athletics in insuring a safe and fan-friendly environment of each home athletic contest assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Meet with head coach to review management plan prior to the home athletic contest of each season. Hire, supervise, and schedule all athletic contests personnel (announcer, scoreboard operators, student workers, statistics crew, etc.) during each athletic sport’s season.  Coordinating these hires with the work-study supervisor and Director of Sports Information. Coordinate necessary facility preparation for each event. Meet visiting teams and officials (referees) and take care of their needs before, during, and after the contest. Make arrangements and supervise the security of dressing rooms for the home and visiting teams and the officials. Maintain supervision of home and away spectators insuring acceptable sportsmanship and conduct.  Coordinate any type of disciplinary action or fan removal with the MC security office. If applicable, manage the operation of ticket sales and file a financial report upon the conclusion of the event. If applicable, supervise the operation of the concessions area and file a financial report. Coordinate the closing of the facility after the event and make necessary changes to prepare the facility for the next activity. Coordinate an athletic contests assessment with the head coach and the director of athletics after each event. Office hours will be maintained as assigned by the Athletic Director. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to work well with others. Regular attendance is required.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Minimum of three years coaching experience required. Must be able to attain a Tennessee Driver’s license. Must be current in First Aid, CPR, with AED.  Must pass the NCAA Division III Rules Test yearly.
