In October 2018, Maryville College will kick off its Bicentennial, a 14-month celebration that will continue until December 2019.  Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Bicentennial Events and Projects Assistant. This is a temporary, part-time position limited to 10 hours/week through May 31, 2018, then increasing to a limit of 20 hours/week. The position will be terminated January 31, 2020. This is a part-time position without benefits.

Job Summary:   The Assistant is responsible for helping plan and manage various events, projects and initiatives intended to observe the College’s bicentennial.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:  Schedule meetings of the Bicentennial Steering Committee. Attend all steering committee meetings and subcommittee meetings, taking notes and sharing them among all steering committee members. Keep track of event schedules and project timelines. Liaison with several college departments and outside partners and vendors on programming, room reservations and purchases. Request purchase orders for some Bicentennial-related expenses. Attend several Bicentennial events (which may be after regular office hours and on weekends); other duties as assigned.

Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Three to five years experience in clerical and/or project management work with increasing responsibilities is required. Experience within an education setting is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate and fluent in Microsoft Office. Experience with a project management/team communication software preferred. Excellent organizational skills and an ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work diplomatically with a wide variety of constituencies; customer-service oriented. Ability to be tactful and discreet and maintain confidentiality. Must be able to attain a Tennessee Driver’s license.
