Church and College Scholarships

Church and College Scholarships are awarded to entering first-year students who are active members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) or the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and who are committed to providing three hours per week of volunteer service in local Presbyterian churches or nonprofit community agencies.  Presbyterian churches, related organizations (such as Presbyterian Women), and individual members of churches sponsor the $2,500 scholarships which are named in honor of the donor. Church and College Fellows

Church and College Fellows are awarded to Presbyterian Church (USA) and Cumberland Presbyterian students who are recommended by their pastors or youth leaders, and who commit to three hours of service per week in a local congregation. Currently eight C&C scholars volunteer in youth programs, church nurseries, choir and ministries in four local churches. C & C scholars gather during the year for planning and fellowship. Church and College Fellowships are awarded for $2,500/scholarship/per year.

Church Service Fellows

Similar to the Church and College Fellows program, Church Service Fellows volunteer in a variety of ways for 3 hours/per week in a local congregation. Funded by individual churches, the $2,000 award tries to match students with churches of their faith tradition.

Expanding Horizons Scholarship

Expanding Horizons is an annual residential summer retreat program for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders designed to stimulate theological investigation while fostering community and building leadership capacity in high school youth by helping them discover and embrace the traditions of Christian faith and exploring, through the lenses of Bible study and theology, different responses to important contemporary questions. Students who participate in Expanding Horizons that subsequently enroll at Maryville College are eligible for an annual $500 scholarship. In return for this scholarship, students may help recruit participants for future Expanding Horizons programs or assist the program as mentors to participating high school students.

Students interested in church-related and service scholarships apply for particular scholarships during admission’s process and come for an on-campus interview during scholarship weekend.
