Career Fair, second year
Building off of your experiences from the first-year career fair, this is a second opportunity to interact with real-world professionals who are interested in providing opportunities for Maryville College students. Sophomores considering internships for their junior year may find this interaction especially valuable. Just like in the first year career fair, you will grow more comfortable networking with employers, dressing professionally, listening, and polishing your materials and smoothing out your professional pitch to employers.
When is this requirement usually completed?
The career fair is typically completed during a 299 class. Students without a 299 course in their major should talk to their academic adviser, though any student may also simply choose to register to attend the Career Fair on Handshake in order to complete the requirement.
Who approves this requirement?
Career Center staff will require students to register on MC's Handshake site. Like in the first year career fair, failure to register and/or sign in properly may prevent students from getting credit for this requirement.
Where can I get more information?
The Career Center schedules these events. Please visit the college's Handshake site for a list of invitees or to schedule an appointment to discuss which kind of career fair is most appropriate to your vocational interests. Your 299 professor, academic adviser, and the Career Center may also have more information on how to make the most of your career fair experience. Faculty should consult the Maryville College Works: Faculty Information page on the Tartan.
