Do we shape the land or does the land shape us? This course explores the natural history of the southeastern United States and how its inhabitants have influenced the landscape. Course activities include trips to natural areas for perspectives on the biology and land-use history of the Southeast, with emphasis on the southern Appalachian region. Class meeting times vary due to off-campus activities. Moderate hikes are required. Fee: $50. (Due at January Term Registration.)
