Description

January 2016: A study of key issues concerning community healthcare aimed at developing practical approaches to supporting patient compliance. Students consider obstacles to effective health care as well as strategies for enabling at-risk patients to play active roles in promoting their health and well-being. Conducted as a seminar, the course provides students with the academic foundation for subsequent health coaching internships with Blount Memorial Hospital. Physicians and professional staff at Blount Memorial provide a series of presentations related to specific problems and interventions. Students complete two semesters of internship following completion of the course. Course is highly recommended as a means to gain significant practical experience for students seeking graduate study in schools of medicine, advanced nursing practice, physician’s assistant, public health, counseling and other health care related fields of study.
