Preparing for Distance Learning
- Make sure you can log into your student accounts such as MC email/Google, The Tartan, and Self-Service.
- Check your web browser to make sure it meets Blackboard’s technical requirements.
- General resources and tips for distance learning are available online. The College’s IT Department has compiled technical support and resources in one document.
- The Maryville College IT Department is available to assist with any technical issues or questions and can be contacted by submitting a ticket online, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling (865) 981-8140.
Make a list of all the places where you can get work done, then rank them in terms of where you can be the most productive.
Check your email and Tartan messages often. Respond promptly to instructors and classmates.
Check your syllabus or visit the Academic Support page for information about connecting via Google Hangouts.
Log in to each course daily. Review each syllabus and make note of due dates in your planner or calendar. Schedule regular study time. Set goals for each study session.
Check Self-Service for registration dates. Check in with your advisor.
While Lamar Memorial Library physical spaces are closed, librarians are available to answer questions and help you find information sources. Come visit us in the virtual library.
The Counseling Center will be functioning remotely for the remainder of the semester and will offer counseling sessions by phone or video conferencing app Zoom. All Maryville College faculty, staff, and students have access to Zoom and can use their Maryville College login information to use the application. Students with appointments already in place before the March 18 announcement should contact their counselor to confirm their meeting time(s). Students who would like to initiate an appointment with the Counseling Center may do so by contacting staff at email@example.com. Different arrangements for counseling sessions can be addressed on an individual basis with your counselor to meet your needs.
