I am from Knoxville, TN, and a proud graduate of Austin-East Magnet High School (Beep! Beep!). After high school, I left my mother’s nest to figure out life on my own. I obtained a Special Education degree from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. I believe that education is the surest way of building a successful future, and I love helping students reach their success.
American Activist Marian Wright Edelman once said, “Service is the rent we pay for living.” I believe in “paying my rent” and have committed service years as a Founding Corps Member for City Year Denver, an Ella Baker Trainer for the Children’s Defense Fund and most recently, elected to serve on Knox County School Board representing District 1.
I am grateful for my education and the opportunities it’s provided to do meaningful work all over the world (literally)! I am thrilled to be back in East Tennessee, providing students with access to quality education.
