My family and I have lived in beautiful Blount County for the past three years after relocating from Nashville. I am an example of what we often term a non-traditional student. I attended Angelo State University in west TX as an athlete out of high school. After two years, short on money, I enlisted for three years with the Army and then returned to Angelo State University in to complete my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology while also receiving an Air Force officer commission.
After completing another 21 years with the Air Force, living in 12 states and spending time in 32 countries, I hung up the uniform and moved the family to Nashville. While in the Air Force, I completed graduate degrees in Aeronautical Science and Military Science. Following my military service, I served as an Associate Dean of Students and Director of Veteran Services at Lipscomb University. Service is in my DNA and I had the privilege to be appointed to serve on the TN Governor’s Council for Military, Veterans and Families for two years. Following my tenure with Lipscomb, I accepted a position as Senior Vice President of Operations and Sales for a Global Manufacturing company based in Nashville. Even though the corporate sector was a rich educational experience, I found myself missing the collegiate environment, relationships and interactions with students, faculty and staff. So, I made the decision to relocate to Maryville to be closer to family members while pursuing higher education opportunities. Eventually, a wonderful opportunity presented itself on a beautiful campus with a rich history and deep seeded values…and here I am.

A strong sense of family and community is present all over campus, and that’s refreshing every day. I’m ecstatic to be a part of this fabulous institution and look forward to bringing in future MC Scotts and watch them experience this fabulous culture along the beautiful foothills of the Smokies!
