DESCRIPTION:Project Leader: Lisa Harvey Burkett ’88 \nHelp to feed our neighbors in East Tennessee with a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Items will be collected starting April 1 in the Second Harvest barrel in the Bartlett Hall Atrium. Sign up for more information and be sure to scan the QR code on the barrel to let us know you participated! \nAll non-perishable food items are accepted but favorites include: peanut butter\, canned meat/fish\, mac & cheese “deluxe” kits (no milk needed)\, pasta sauce\, rice\, dried or canned beans\, crackers\, canned soup/pasta\, canned fruits and vegetables\, packets of tuna or chicken\, granola bars and other healthy snacks. Please no glass containers\, pet food\, or baby food. See the list of most needed items on Second Harvest’s website. \nFood drives are one of the primary ways Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee collects food. Second Harvest believes in Food for ALL for East Tennessee. Each of their eight hunger-relief programs are designed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to receive food within the 18-county service area. The total number of people experiencing food insecurity in East Tennessee has surpassed 213\,000.

DESCRIPTION:Project Leaders: Amanda Sparrow Black ’09 and Joe Gunter ’07 \nVolunteers will help to organize donations and clean the clothing closet/donation center at Bellewood & Brooklawn’s campus in Louisville. This project will include sorting through clothing\, toys\, games\, hygiene products\, etc\, and putting them in the correct areas and disposing items no longer needed. \nBellewood & Brooklawn provides trauma informed behavioral health and family services for children\, teens\, and families across Kentucky. They help young people and caregivers find stability after adversity\, including experiences of abuse\, neglect\, and other significant stressors. Our continuum of care includes residential treatment\, therapeutic foster care and adoption\, community based programs\, and outpatient therapy options when available.

DESCRIPTION:Project Leader: Jennifer Phillips Triplett ’07 & BMA PTA \nJoin the Beaumont Academy parents and students for the school’s annual spring clean up to pick up trash\, pull weeds and plant flowers. The group will meet at the front of the school to fuel up on donuts and then break off to tackle each job. All needed tools are provided; just bring work gloves if you’d like them. Cleanups typically take a couple hours\, so come when you’re able and stay as long as you can.

SUMMARY:Community Chorus Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:The Maryville College Community Chorus\, under the direction of Dr. Dwight Dockery ’05\, will begin spring rehearsals at 7 p.m. on Tuesday\, January 20\, 2026\, in the Harry H. Harter Choral Rehearsal Room of the Clayton Center for the Arts. Rehearsals are normally from 7 until 9 p.m. The chorus is open to all area singers of all talent levels above 16. Music reading experience is helpful but not required. Registration and music for the choir will be available at the first rehearsal.\nThis established chorus of over 50 singers has a strong tradition of presenting quality choral music and frequently joins other community ensembles\, such as the Maryville College youth choirs and the Orchestra at Maryville College. The chorus performs quality literature of various styles and genres of the highest caliber. It often features the music of area composers and arrangers\, as well as the classic gems of the masters.\nDr. Dwight Dockery ’05 earned his bachelor’s in music theory-composition from MC before obtaining his master’s in choral conducting from East Carolina University and his doctorate from the University of South Carolina. Today\, he serves as music director at Maryville First United Methodist Church.
