SUMMARY:Art Reception for Landin Eldridge\, Visiting Lecturer of Art
DESCRIPTION:The Division of Fine Arts featured artist for November is Landin Eldridge\, Visiting Lecturer of Art.  The title of her exhibition is Where’d You See It Last?\nWhere’d You See It Last?  is an exhibition of my efforts at trying to piece together a story with complete accuracy over and over and over again (never quite hitting the mark). Through repeating stuck-in-my-head stories\, I hope to remember something crucial that will prove the beliefs I hold about myself are true. My drawings are like trying to retrace your steps. Perhaps you’re looking for lost keys\, verifying you didn’t say something stupid to new friends\, or trying to recall a happy moment in vivid detail. In any case\, retracing steps involves mentally placing the furniture in the room\, the people on the furniture\, and the events of the night in order so that you can find what you’ve forgotten. Unfortunately\, memory is not reliable\, and this recollection will always contain warping. When making a drawing\, I take images through multiple layers of transformation (alteration in photoshop\, 3D scanning\, printing/collage\, photo transfers) to imitate the inaccuracies of memory. I combine these digital processes with traditional drawing media like ink\, graphite\, and pen to create physical compositions on paper. Through these processes\, I memorialize the stories and beloved images I want to verify. \nLandin Eldridge is an artist\, gallerist\, and educator based in Knoxville\, TN. Originally from central North Carolina\, she completed a BA in Studio Art and Theatre at Davidson College and an MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting and Drawing at the University of Tennessee\, Knoxville. Her art practice is a synthesis of traditional drawing\, creative writing\, and technological references that explores concepts of intimacy\, embarrassment\, fear\, humor\, and obsession. Her most recent exhibitions include Prove It: An Installation of Drawings at the Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture and No Bigger Than a Breadbox at the Emporium Center in Downtown Knoxville. Her drawings and short stories have been featured in publications such as Fruitslice Issue 5: Rituals and Hellmouth Mag. Prior to teaching at Maryville College\, she helped facilitate exhibitions with the Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture\, Gallery 1010\, and the Knoxville Arts and Culture Alliance. \nThere will be an art reception for Landin Eldridge on Friday\, November 21st from 6-8 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts’ Blackberry Farm and William “Ed” Harmon Galleries.  The reception is free and open to the public.

They believe this can motivate kids to gain a greater respect for the natural world\, their communities\, and themselves.\nThe five-time Parents’ Choice Award winners have been featured on PBS KIDS\, garnered praise from the likes of NPR’s All Things Considered and USA Today\, and have been called “two of family music’s best songwriters.”\nThank you to East Tennessee PBS for its generous support of this performance and its ongoing commitment to providing meaningful\, family-centered arts experiences across the region. \n This performance is eligible for Penny4Arts. For ages 0-15\, receive one penny ticket with the purchase of a full price adult ticket. Tickets will be available at will call on the day of show. To reserve\, call the Box Office at 865-981-8590.

SUMMARY:Vitamin String Quartet: The Music of Taylor Swift\, Bridgerton\, and Beyond

SUMMARY:Artist Reception: Pinkie Mistry
DESCRIPTION:The Clayton Center for the Arts proudly presents a stunning new exhibition by celebrated East Tennessee artist Pinkie Mistry\, whose vibrant oil paintings and monumental public murals have captivated audiences throughout the Smokies region and beyond.\nMistry\, who has transformed the visual landscape of our community with three beloved murals right here in Maryville and thirteen throughout the greater Smokies region\, brings her mastery of oil and canvas to this remarkable gallery presentation. Known for her acclaimed “Wings of Wander” mural series and as the illustrator of five enchanting children’s books\, Mistry continues to build bridges between cultures\, communities\, and the natural world through her art.\nThis extraordinary exhibition showcases four distinct yet harmonious bodies of work that reflect the artist’s diverse inspirations and masterful technique. Visitors will be mesmerized by her evocative series capturing the fluid grace and cultural richness of Indian and Cuban dancers\, where each brushstroke pulses with rhythm and movement. Her collection of twenty luminous butterfly paintings celebrates transformation and migration—themes that resonate deeply with both the artist’s personal journey and our region’s natural heritage. Mistry’s mountain-inspired series pays homage to the majestic Smokies that have long served as both her home and creative muse\, while her deeply textured floral works reveal nature’s intricate beauty through layers of rich\, tactile oil paint.\nDrawing from her East Tennessee roots\, rich cultural heritage\, and extensive world travels\, Mistry creates art that speaks to universal experiences of movement\, beauty\, and belonging. Her bold colors and dynamic themes invite viewers to see their own stories reflected in each carefully crafted canvas.\nJoin us in celebrating an artist who has made Maryville and the entire Smokies region more beautiful\, one brush stroke at a time.\n \n \nIn observance of the Hindu holiday\, Diwali\, authentic Indian small bites and refreshments will be served.\nDiwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It symbolizes the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma\, light over darkness\, good over evil\, and knowledge over ignorance. Families light diva’s (candles)\, gather in prayer (puja)\, exchange gifts and have a feast and many sweet treats.

Her collection of twenty luminous butterfly paintings celebrates transformation and migration—themes that resonate deeply with both the artist’s personal journey and our region’s natural heritage. Mistry’s mountain-inspired series pays homage to the majestic Smokies that have long served as both her home and creative muse\, while her deeply textured floral works reveal nature’s intricate beauty through layers of rich\, tactile oil paint. Drawing from her East Tennessee roots\, rich cultural heritage\, and extensive world travels\, Mistry creates art that speaks to universal experiences of movement\, beauty\, and belonging. Her bold colors and dynamic themes invite viewers to see their own stories reflected in each carefully crafted canvas. Join us in celebrating an artist who has made Maryville and the entire Smokies region more beautiful\, one brush stroke at a time.     In observance of the Hindu holiday\, Diwali\, authentic Indian small bites and refreshments will be served. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It symbolizes the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma\, light over darkness\, good over evil\, and knowledge over ignorance. Families light diva’s (candles)\, gather in prayer (puja)\, exchange gifts and have a feast and many sweet treats.
