DESCRIPTION:Revolutionary Women: Then & Now is a special event presented by East Tennessee PBS that brings history to life through story\, scholarship\, and shared experience. Guests will enjoy a light brunch\, followed by an exclusive screening from The American Revolution by Ken Burns. The program continues with a compelling talk from Melissa Blair\, women’s historian\, author\, and chair of the history department at Auburn University.\nDr. Blair will explore the vital yet often overlooked roles women played during the American Revolution and trace their influence through the generations that followed. From acts of resistance to lasting contributions in shaping the nation\, this event offers a meaningful and engaging look at women’s impact on American history\, then and now.

SUMMARY:Carl Gombert: Radiant Geometry
DESCRIPTION:Carl Gombert was born in Brimfield\, Ohio in 1959.  He started taking painting lessons at the age of 14 with money he earned delivering newspapers.  He earned a BFA in Drawing from the University of Akron and an MFA in Painting from Kent State University.  He worked as a stagehand before pursuing a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts at Texas Tech University.  He has exhibited widely and his work is in numerous public and corporate collections. Since 1993 has taught painting\, drawing and art history at Maryville College in Tennessee.

SUMMARY:Broadway Center for the Arts Presents The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical
DESCRIPTION:As the half-blood son of a Greek god\, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can’t control\, a destiny he doesn’t want\, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus”s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect\, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest\, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle\, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score\, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure “worthy of the gods” (Time Out New York).\nThe Saturday Matinee at 2:00 PM will be an ASL interpreted performance.
