Interviews

The Maryville College Career Center offers employers and volunteer organizations the opportunity to interview students virtually or on-campus. When requesting an interview schedule, please review Maryville College’s Academic Calendar and be sure to consider important events on campus which could adversely affect student availability. To request more information or to book a virtual or on-campus interview schedule, contact the Career Center at careercenter@maryvillecollege.edu.

Meet & Greet Sessions

One of the best ways to connect with students on-campus is through our Meet & Greets, where employers, volunteer organizations, and graduate schools can share their opportunities with students and answer questions.  To learn more about Meet & Greets, contact the Career Center at careercenter@maryvillecollege.edu.

Become an Internship Provider at MC

Internships help students connect to professionals in their desired field while providing a valuable service to an organization. Maryville College considers our internship providers as academic partners who offer real-world work experiences that support students’ career goals.

Below are the requirements for an organization to provide an internship for college credit at Maryville College:

  • To ensure equitable access to all students on campus, the internship opportunity must be posted on Handshake. Follow these links to create an employer account and post a job on Handshake!
  • The employer account and job description must include the following items:
    • Name & location of your organization
    • Name & contact information for the individual(s) hiring and supervising the interns
    • Details about the internship including responsibilities, qualifications, skills, major preference, hours per week, minimum GPA requirements, etc.
    • Designation of Paid or Unpaid; if paid, indicate a salary or summary of compensation. Note that both paid and unpaid internships are acceptable, but if unpaid, we require that the intern does not displace regular employees.
    • Beginning and end dates of the internship
    • Workplace requirements such as transportation, health and safety, or appropriate attire guidelines
    • Application due date

For students to receive academic credit for a professional experience, there are several requirements that must be met and guidelines to be followed during the experience:

  • Once students are made an offer, they must contact the Career Center to report their internship and register for the correct internship course that aligns with their major. Credit cannot be given retroactively.
  • Students must develop three learning objectives that they plan to achieve during their internship course. These will be reviewed by their internship supervisor, the Career Center staff and approved by their academic advisor.
  • Students must have an individual on-site supervisor with your organization available to discuss their learning objectives with them and report on their progress by completing a midterm and final internship performance evaluation.

Note that students earn academic credit hours based on the following scale of student participation hours:

  • 45 Hours = 0-1 Credit Hours
  • 90 Hours = 2 Credit Hours
  • 135 Hours = 3 Credit Hours
  • 270 Hours = 6 Credit Hours
  • 405 Hours = 9 Credit Hours

If you have additional questions about the internship process or requirements, please contact us by phone at 865-981-8400 or email careercenter@maryvillecollege.edu.
