2017-18 ‘Meet Maryville’ dates announced
Aug. 18, 2017
High school students, adult learners and community college students are all invited to “Meet Maryville” on Sat., Oct. 7, 2017; Sat. Nov. 4, 2017; and Sat., April 7, 2018.
Students interested in studying majors in the STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are encouraged to register for the Sat., Oct. 7 “Meet Maryville” event and participate in STEM activities at the conclusion of “Meet Maryville.” STEM students will spend the night on campus with a current student and participate in the annual STEMFest Carnival on Sunday.
Hosted by Maryville College’s Admissions staff, the “Meet Maryville” preview day event is designed to help people become more familiar with the nationally recognized liberal arts college.
“‘Meet Maryville’ is designed to introduce prospective students and their families to Maryville College academics and faculty, as well as campus life and opportunities MC offers such as research, study abroad and career placement,” said Cyndi Sweet, executive director for admissions and financial aid at Maryville College. “Throughout the course of the day, students and parents have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and current students, which allows them to learn more about how Maryville College not only develops students as academic scholars, but as citizens of the community and as future employees. We also encourage students to schedule an individual visit at a later date, which can be even more personalized.”
During “Meet Maryville,” visitors will meet with MC faculty and staff to learn more about academic and co-curricular programs at MC. Visitors will then have an opportunity to connect with current MC students while enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Margaret Ware Dining Room of Pearsons Hall. After lunch, students will get to experience Maryville College first-hand through a unique activity with MC’s Mountain Challenge program on campus, and families will learn about financial aid and affordability at Maryville College.
Finally, Maryville College Ambassadors will lead “Meet Maryville” guests on a tour of the campus. Guests also have the option to choose a sustainability tour that highlights the College’s ‘green’ initiatives.
If you are unable to attend a “Meet Maryville” preview day event, Saturday tours will be offered at 10 a.m. eastern time on Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30; Oct. 14, 21 and 28; Nov. 11 and 18; Dec. 2 and 9; Jan. 13, 20 and 27; Feb. 3; March 3, 10 and 17; April 14, 21 and 28; and May 5 and 12.
